MEET COACH BRETT
Built by Mentorship.
Assistant Golf Professional at Hunting Hills Country Club. Co-coach at the Kasza Golf Academy. A rare combination of technical knowledge, mentorship-driven coaching, and a genuine passion for helping golfers improve — especially juniors.

THE STORY
It Started at Fourteen
Brett's coaching journey began at just 14 years old, when James Kasza and respected instructor Steve Prater recognized something special in him. At the time, James was competing professionally on multiple tours while also assisting Steve with junior clinics at Roanoke Country Club — often taking juniors onto the course and helping them learn the game in a way that was both fun and easy to understand.
When Steve returned to Blacksburg to lead his academy, James joined him as his assistant, and Brett was brought into that environment at an early age. What started as exposure quickly turned into years of hands-on mentorship, education, and development under two highly respected instructors. Brett was not simply taught how to swing a golf club — he was taught how to understand players, identify movement patterns, communicate clearly, and coach in a way that creates lasting improvement.
Through years of studying Steve Prater's teaching methodology and working alongside James at Blacksburg Country Club during summers, Brett developed a coaching philosophy centered around clarity, simplicity, and helping players improve without overcomplicating the game.
PHILOSOPHY
More Than Mechanics
“For Brett, teaching has always been about far more than mechanics.”
As someone who understands firsthand how much confidence golf can build in a young person, he is deeply passionate about helping players — especially juniors — grow both on and off the course. Whether working with a complete beginner or a competitive junior pursuing tournament success, Brett has a gift for making the game understandable, enjoyable, and approachable.
RECENT RESULTS
State Championship Coach
Brett served as Head Coach of Faith Christian Middle School Golf, helping lead the team to a state championship. More importantly, that experience reinforced what matters most to him — helping young athletes develop not only as golfers, but as confident young men and women of character.
With nearly a decade of coaching and instructional experience, Brett has developed a sharp eye for the golf swing and a growing expertise in the mental side of performance — including tournament mindset, emotional control, resilience after adversity, and helping athletes build confidence that extends well beyond golf.
